 Current Activities and Initiatives Minimize
The Geographic Information Coordinating Council works simultaneously on numerous topics, issues and opportunities that are brought to the GICC through its committees, members, staff and the general public.

The GICC wants your your input on current, high profile issues!

NC OneMap Revitalization
NC OneMap is the data discovery and data access resource for North Carolina’s geospatial data. In 2010, the GICC and its standing committees initiated an effort to revitalize NC OneMap. In June 2011, the new NC OneMap Geospatial Portal was launched to support the recently release 2010 imagery. The contents of the NC OneMap data download and web map services pages are now being migrated to the Geospatial Portal.

The Geospatial Portal makes it easy to discover and use geospatial data. As new resources are added, the Geospatial Portal will become the "one-stop shop" for users seeking geospatial information for North Carolina. Keyword searches and searches by spatial extent will make it easy to find the content you seek in your area-of-interest. Users can either download or stream data into a desktop or web application.

More exciting changes to NC OneMap are on the horizon. Please submit your comments, questions and suggestions to Tim Johnson, CGIA

Statewide Imagery Project
In 2010, the NC 911 board funded the acquisition and delivery of high resolution orthoimagery for all 100 counties. The exciting outcome of this project is that consistent high resolution imagery is now available for the entire state for the first time ever. The data are now available through the NC OneMap Geospatial Portal.

The GICC’s Working Group for Orthophotography Planning recently released the North Carolina Orthoimagery Business Plan to support the coordinated acquisition of a seamless statewide imagery dataset of standardized quality, resolution, age, and format. Funding is now available to continue the program with acquisition of one-fourth of the state in 2012 as the beginning of the next four-year phase.

Please submit your comments about the 2010 project and your questions and suggestions on the 2012 project to Jeff Brown, CGIA

Building A Statewide Street Centerline Database
The GICC’s Working Group for Roads and Transportation is engaged in an ambitious effort to create a statewide street centerline database through agreements among local and state government agencies.

Please submit your comments, questions and suggestions to Alex Rickard, WGRT Co-Chair

Building A Statewide Parcel Database
The GICC’s Working Group for Seamless Parcels is engaged in an equally ambitious effort to create a statewide parcel database through agreements among local and state government agencies.

Please submit your comments, questions and suggestions to Tom Morgan, WGSP Co-Chair
